{ Our central theme is green }
Bonjour! Today I’d love to introduce you to my new logo design & share with you some insights into the creative process...
But first things first - please allow me a short introduction to the meaning behind the name of the label:
„Filasophie“ is a play on French words, translated literally „(sewing) thread of Sophie“ and is in transferred sense the central theme of the brand.
The philosophy behind originally was everything about sewing, threading and finally was narrowed down to the magical art of creating spun cotton ornaments…
“Borrowed from nature”
My inspiration comes from antique art but also from the beauty of nature with its versatile flora and fauna. It’s therefore not surprising that I went home from our dog walks through the woods with an „imaginary sketch book" filled with new ideas!
Back in the atelier, pheasants, mushrooms and so many other characters have been then translated into cotton figurines - always with great attention to detail and a huge amount of love…
A logo means to me first and foremost the possibility to show my personality as a designer and to communicate that to others.
Filasophie has grown from almost 7 years of experience and expertise and during this time I developed myself as well as an artist.
„THE DETAILS ARE NOT THE DETAILS. THEY MAKE THE DESIGN“_Charles Eames
The former logo consists mainly of bold letters and there was not enough room for additional details. With the new logo I'm able to convey a certain lightness through the handwritten font which gives me more room for decorative elements.
What's new?
Therefore I have now the possibility to underline the new direction of Filasophie even more clearly: Surface pattern design & Illustration will come along with the artisanal spun cotton ornaments. Particularly inspired by antique hunting(dog) illustrations and 18th century floral textile and wallpaper designs.
Within the last 2-3 years I’ve received more and more inquiries about customized dog ornaments. I’m glad to see how many dog loving followers are amongst you! For that reason a huge variety of different breeds left my worktable so far: beginning with hunting dogs, specials like Dogo Argentino or a mixed Corgi - just to name a few.
As a result, it was obvious to me to include a spun cotton ornament to my new logo. By the way it reminds me a little bit on Hubertus - don’t you think…?
Finally...
To be honest - It was a long and winding path to get the final result. But after careful consideration, lovely support from my furry work companion and a good amount of courage I’m finally more than happy with the new logo.
Now, it feels just right: telling stories from the past while being timeless and special.
I hope you like the new logo as much as I enjoyed the entire creative process.
Would love to hear from you - perhaps you are a dog owner, too? Tell me little bit about you and your furry friend! I’m looking forward to get in touch with you!
Best wishes and have a wonderful week…
Sophie & „Hubertus“
